Buying a half of beef
Best value. 175-225 lb of meat. $5.50/lb of hanging weight (CT: $6/lb) which runs between 250-325lb. Price includes processing. This is the most responsible and healthy way to consume grass fed beef. Naturally balanced, using as much of the animal as possible. We will help you decide how to process and package. Should easily fit in 6-8 cubic ft freezer space and feed a family of 4 for a year. Total price will range from $1350-1800. Price/lb of meat in the freezer will range from $8-$9 depending on how meat is cut and trimmed. Usually steaks make up 30%, Roast and other cuts 30% and ground 35-50%. This does not include any of the organ meat suet or extra bones that you can choose to keep. See Example below.
There are limited animals available. Placing a nonrefundable deposit secures your half. Delivery will be at least 3 weeks after we take cattle to processing and can be arranged later as needed. The majority will be ready after early October through Dec. Let us know your preference when you make a deposit. We still need a deposit even if you are planning for a delivery in December. You can also note a preference for a smaller or larger half.
We will send an invoice for the balance as soon as we know the details. Once we know the hanging weight we will know the price. Processing cost are included so there will be no other unknown cost.
Payment is due at time of delivery with Cash or Check. You can pay with credit card online prior to delivery (Bulk Order Final transaction under Beef shares)
Seem overwhelming? You can purchase a 100 or 200lb bundle for a fixed price while inventory holds up. Beef will be cut to Stillwater Farm specifications. Until we are finished processing all cattle, the bundles will not be listed so will need to contact us directly to secure an order.
Example: An 1100 lb heifer after slaughter weighs 660 lbs. A half would be 330. Your cost would be $1815. You decide to get mostly boneless steaks but get some bone in cuts like cross cut shank and bone in chuck roast. We deliver 200 lbs of packaged meat. Average cost will be $9/lb. In Addition you can get soup bones, liver, heart, oxtail, tongue and bones for the dog at no extra charge with a value up to $200. Now consider that comparable or even lesser quality grass fed ground beef could cost as much as $10/lb. In addition, up to 20% of the cuts you are getting is worth over $20/lb retail.
